Cut vs Fade

On TV, the commentators always talk about "he is going to cut the ball"?
Is this another word for a fade?

Cut means to swing from outside the target line from behind the ball. A fade is a controlled shot, which starts left and finishes on the target line. A slice is an uncontrolled shot which starts left and finishes way over to the right ... assuming you're right handed.
