making the change

Hi peeps im going to swap my graphite yonex cavity backs for a set of wilson blades, ive been playing with cavity backs for the last year of so, but peeps are saying there **** plus the pros use blades so i might aswell get blades and try to get good with them, does this sound like a good idea? your thought would be helpful thx whippet

Re: making the change

I think you should try before you buy.

It would be interesting to see in a few years how many pros started out with blades vs cavity backs.

You'll find out just how good (or bad) a golfer you really are with blades, that much I know.

Re: making the change

If you are not a 10 handicap or less do not buy blades without trying them first. What is your goal here? to become a pro or to enjoy your rounds with your buddies? If you are a recreational golfer go for a club with a big sweet spot it will make the game more enjoyable for all. Blades are great if you can say flush a 3 iron 7 out of 10 times, but just like playing the pro tee's when you are not long enough or straight enough playing blades because it is what the pros play would be a mistake and could sour your experience on the golf course. Maybe look at a set that has perimiter weighted long irons or hybrid's (3, 4, 5 iron) and blade style low irons as the low irons (7,8,9,pw) are not as hard to hit for most people. Almost every major clubmaker has a set like this now or certainly could be ordered special. Food for thought.
