Question What Ball???

What ball does everyone use??
I tend to fade the ball slightly and have never played with one particular ball. I recently tried playing with a Pro V1 and while I was able to make it dance on the green which made me giggle like a girl it also made my tee shots banana closer to the next fairway then the one i was playing. I really want to find one ball that suits my game and stick with it. Does any body have any tips for a good ball that'll fly straight off the tee but grip the greens??

Re: What Ball???

I use prov 1 X and recently have tried the maxfli revolution tour. They are 19.99 a dozen and are every bit as good as the pro v1. I get a nice soft feel, good spin, and it doesent go in hazzards. Well everything but the last part
I also like the u-tri tour made by precept. I was big on callaway black for a while too.

Re: What Ball???

I've thought about the nike mojo. I've also thought about the Dunlop Loco Crazy Long. Anyone had any luck with these balls. I'll certainly look into the Maxfly Revolution Tour @ 19.99 (I'm guessing that's Dollars, about £10-£11) it's certainly better than £30 a dozen for the Pro V1!!! I've only got 7 left

Re: What Ball???

Try Titleist Professionals (if you can find some) or for a mid-price ball I like Stratas.

Re: What Ball???

I stick to the Top Flite XL Balata.

They're €24 for 18 in Ireland. $30 or £16.

I have no great opinion of them but am generally happy with them.

I don't want to spend much more on balls. My club course is called 'The Lakes' and with very good reason.

Does anyone think I'd get better value for that magic combo of 'distance and feel'!

Re: What Ball???

Pro-V1's are higher spinning balls compared to the likes of Top Flite and so on.

For less errant shots you need to go for a minumum spin ball, usually hard balls which are murder on the short game. Its a trade off overall.

The Pro-V1 class of ball is longer despite the greater spin rate because the materials are much more advanced and transfer more of the power from the swing into ball speed.

The best compromise between the two is probably the Titleist NXT. They are about 25 quid a box but you can get the older model (no difference to the new one by the way maybe another couple of yards but thats it) for under 20 pounds a doz.

Re: What Ball???

I bought some LoCo Super Crazy Longs the other day. I like how straight I hit this ball, but the cover is a little harder than I like. Just don't get a good feel putting with it.
