| I am currently off a low handicap which i am very happy about, but i want to get better. I went to the pro and hit about 50 balls for him with varius clubs..... 40 were solid shots but 10 were hit to the right (this is my bad shot where i know i go over the top by starting down with my shoulders). He then said to do the following; The pro at my club is saying to get my weight onto my right foot (i'm a right hander) to about 70% for drives, and also carry this on with the 3 - 9 iron. He also said to slightly tilt my spin away from the target and get my hands slighlty in front of the ball. All this from my quite even upright stance is very new to me and feels very wierd BUT the ball does have a higher flight, goes further and I connect with it better when i catch it well. Does this set up sound like the right thing as it encourages me to get behind the ball even before i start the backswing. Is it unique to the pro as it sounds like it will work for me or is this a good set up? Just wanted to know before i go and hammer it into muscle memory over the next week, Thanks Rich

| Re: Weight Distribution Richie, I think it's really what works for you as we are all built different, if I remember you are like me (bit of a lightweight) we need to get more toward 70-30 that a bigger chap, again it's up to individual. Personally Driver-5 I'm 70-30 6-9 I am more like 60-40 P-lob I feel like I'm holding my weight over my left leg. Ian. |

| Re: Weight Distribution Richie, What your pro has told you is exactly what I tell anyone I instruct. I also do that myself as well. The hands in front works well for those who need to have the feeling at address to imitate the feeling at impact. Many say that if you want to have your hands ahead of the ball at impact, set them there at address. This promotes a flat left wrist all the way through. In short, I agree almost 100% with your pro. The only difference of opinion that I have is I would only have 70% on your right foot for driver down to 6 iron and then 60% on your right foot from 7 iron to PW and about 50% for SW and LW (for full swings).
