Drawing the ball

I changed my set up a few weeks ago and now I'm able to hit a draw shot. I've never been able to do this type of shot before. My usual shot shape is either straight, push or push slice. I'm happy with this change and I'm hitting more fairways and greens but I'm wondering if this change will be better in the long run. Has my swing improved because I can now hit a draw ?

I'm always looking to improve my swing and I am wondering if this change is a step in the right direction ?

Re: Drawing the ball

When you hit your draw now, is the ball starting a bit right? Straight? A bit Left? How far is the ball moving right to left? Is it ending up at your target? Right of your target? Left of your target?

Hittig a draw doesn't necessarily mean a better swing, nor does having a fade mean you have a poor swing. But, if having a draw is the result you are working on, then you have met your objective. If you are getting the distance you are looking for and you are becoming more consistant in your ball striking, mission accomplished. There si always room for some small tweaks in almost everyone's swing, so as long as your outcomes are meeting your goals for now, you can be very happy with your swing change. Remember, adjusting your swing will continue as you continue playing through the years.

Keep up the hard work!!!

Re: Drawing the ball

I've never drawn the ball in my life so it is unusual to see start to the right and gently come back.

To answer your question: I aim for my target and the ball starts off to the right, not much and then swings back on target. I'm hitting more fairways and greens (13 GIR last round !) Of course a few shots don't come back enough and I finish slightly right of the target but I haven't developed a wild hook yet.

It all looks very promising.

Re: Drawing the ball

Whippet, a push shot is a shot that (for a RH golfer) goes out to the right, and the ball flight is straight (no bending left or right).

Re: Drawing the ball

Whippet, their is no right or wrong ball flight, I used to get a slight draw but now I get a slight fade, since the change I am hitting more fairways and greens. that's what works for me. And about changing your ball flight you can do it with so many different ways, the right way for you is the one you are more confident and have a greater success doing. I myself setup with my clubface facing where I want the ball to land, I then turn my feet towards the flight path I want the ball to start flying. A draw I have my feet aiming right of the target and the clubface at the target, and a fade I have my feet going left of the target. but with me cause of my natural fade I tend to over slice it.

It is good to hear you are alway improving putt king. keep up the good work.
