Flying right elbow

Hi guys

I'm currently trying to fix a flying right elbow on my backswing. Does anyone have any routines/fixes that could help me control this. I'm not 100% on what position the elbow should be at, at the top of the backswing. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Re: Flying right elbow

Funny ive just posted a tread the same.

Been looking into it and found a good drill for getting the right feeling for what you wont.

1. take your stance put right hand over your left so backs of hands are together. and go into your backswing. You can see the right albow is in the correct position.

2. To take it a step further place a club in your left hand and do the same, just work on getting that feeling and if poss use a mirror.
(with regards to using a club, im using a childs club with is small and light. not sure if it will work will full lenght club)

got the drill from the instruction section from Golf channel website www.thegolfchannel.com

hope it helps

John

Re: Flying right elbow

Hold a tray in your right hand (resting on the palm and not the finger) and swing to the top of the backswing.

That is a good drill. Just went into the men's room at work and tried it. Points to the fact that my swing is too flat. Wonder why you do not place your hands palm to palm?

Re: Flying right elbow

I think back to back of hands restricts you a bit better than palm to palm!

Re: Flying right elbow

Thanks for the replies guys

I think i need to go for some lessons with a pro, i've been working hard on my game for weeks now, and am actually going backwards. I've looked into every part of my swing from grip to posture to swing path, and tried various new techniques without success. My game is now so erratic, i have no idea where my next shot will end up. I've become really disillusioned, and have decided to get help from the pros. It was either that or give up.

So it's last chance saloon for me i'm afraid, here's hoping

Re: Flying right elbow

Dont give in, definatly get a few lesson's just so the pro can check your set-up, posture & allignment.

Im goiong through the same thing, Ive compleatly changed my game and even though the scores have not improved dramatically, I know im now doing things correctly as apossed to before.

I used to slice everything, but now i sometimes hook stuff, also my distances have increased by 2 club lenght's at least. so it will take a bit of time to adjust.

But i know soon the scores will start to drop amd yours will too!

KEEP AT IT!

John
