New Years Resolutions

First off a Merry Christmas to one and all fellow golf nuts

Interested to know, that following the usual presents of a bag of tees, and some golf socks, what your new years resolutions will be for the game in 2006

Mine

Well Im going back to my old 2-plane swing. I am fairly tall (6 foot 1), but my arms are a little short for my height. Ive tried the one plane for a while as I like the theory but although I got round i never saw any dramatic improvement and usually ended up with a sore back from bending WAY over

Last 2 rounds ive gone back to a 2 plane swing combining a turn and a lift and have instantly shot my best 2 rounds of the last 4 months. Find im able to work the ball both ways again, and feel much more comfortable

The other resolution will be to get out and play more .. have a to have a word with the wife about that one new years eve when shes had a few

Re: New Years Resolutions

My aim in golf is to be a scratch player.

I'm on 5.1 at the moment, 4.3 is the lowest I've got to.

I've discovered a fault in my swing and my last 2 rounds have been brilliant. I'm drawing the ball, something I've never been able to do. I know it's early days but I think I've got rid of my push shot. I'm very excited about 2006.

Re: New Years Resolutions

Next year I plan to carry on from where I left off and not start the year with yet more "great ideas". Slowly, slowly catch e monkey from now on. I finished this year not caring about the score and just learning to enjoy the game I want to take that positive thought into next year.

Merry christmas to all.

Re: New Years Resolutions

My plan is to drastically reduce my inventory, and get used to one set of cavity back irons, and play them all year. Then I'll have my backup bag, and that's it. After the spring shootout, there's going to be some liquidation! I'll also figure out what loft driver is optimal for me (I'm pretty sure it's around the 10.5º mark, but I'm still experimenting).

And if I buy a new house, I'm setting up a quality indoor practice area, complete with teego.

Re: New Years Resolutions

Great Thread,

There is one from last year somewhere, I wonder how many achieved last years messages.

He's mine,

I feel at my level, all that is needed is a bit of self believe and patients, I am going to work on non complicated thoughts when playing the game. Leave the swing thoughts at the range and play the conditions and the course.

Good luck to everyone for 2006.

Ian.

Re: New Years Resolutions

When I was a younger lad doing athletics, we were advised to come up with 3 goals for a year.

The first being just a little better than you are now - the acceptable goal. The next was an achievable goal, you'd have to work to get it, but you are capable of doing it. The final was a break through goal - something that seems beyond your grasp at the moment even with a lot of hard work.

My acceptable goal - I want to break 90 in my local club (my best is 92, its a par 66)
My achievable goal - Break 90 on a few longer courses in my area (par 70/71 type of places).
My breakthrough goal - Score over 36 points off an 18 handicap....

Anyone got similar targets?
