Over active lower body

I have recently had lessons and my biggest fault was hitting at the ball with my lower body, consequently my hands were behind the ball at impact. Also I dont get much distance as I cannot maintain an angle in my right wrist to produce lag to gain the distance. I struggle with hooking all clubs except my driver.
Has anybody got any good tips for these problems? I shoot about 100 to 120 in a typical round.

Re: Over active lower body

try putting a small range ball bucket between your feet. this will stabilize your lower body. then hit balls with half swings until you get the feel of rotating your upper body. on the backswing back should be to the target, on the foward swing chest should be facing the target. Take it easy at first because this drill can put a strain on you lower back. relax the arms and let them go with the rotation of the larger muscles of the chest and back.

Re: Over active lower body

Simple to solve this one ... easy when you know how.

Address the golf ball as you normally would, okay? Now drop the golf club and put your hands on your hips.

All you have to do now is turn the hips like you were doing hip and lower back looseners on the range. That's the hip and leg action in the golf swing - exactly what your hips and lower body have to do.

Add your torso rotation and weight shift into the movement and you have just build a swing. That's be $500 please, I take cash or cash.

Re: Over active lower body

A couple of things to try. I always believe a lot in cause and effect downswing faults. You may be over active in the lower body becuase you over rotate and/or slide your lower body too much in the backswing meaning it has to very active in the downswing to get back to the ball

Try and focus on keeping the lower body really quiet on the backswing. In fact try and think about keeping the hips as still as possible whilst turning the shoulders (Mcleans X-Factor) and also try and stay centered over the ball. In other words a really still lower body. The less moving parts on the backswing the better

You *may* find this then slows down your lower body lurch on the downswing because from that position all you have to do (all you can do) is rotate, else youd fall over !
