Re: driver problems

assuming your new driver is the same lenghth, it sounds in general as if you are lifting the club up at address and then coming down steeply into the ball causing either divots or hitting the top of the club. You may need to turn the shoulders more and get behind the ball at the top of the backsing, hence flattening out your swing arc.

A great drill for this is to setup a club lifted about a foot off the ground and in-line with the middle of your stance. (The grip needs to be far enough out the way not to interfere with your swing). Now swing back and through guiding the clubhead under the hovering club. This flattens out the take away and the swing into impact.

You also need to make sure you 'stay connected' and to drill this is also very easy. Address the club and without changing your stance or alignment, lift the buttof the club into your tummy. Now swing back a foot or two, through impact and carry on a foot or two after impact. The butt of the club must stay connected to yoru tummy. If it doesn't, you're swing is not staying connected.

Simple, once you know how.

If these don't work for you, then we need to check your swing outand something more serious has gone wrong but I always like to check the basic stuff and do simple drills first. Often the simple corrections correct major swing faults automatically.

Re: driver problems

Yep, similar but we found that the Inside Approach were too distracting toour students. They're pretty big and takes the focusaway from the impact ofthe ball to missing the damn thing.

We had a guy who was so badly from the outside, he still hit the thing!
