Darn, should have made sure it was working before I posted. Not to good with the html. Should be working now though and thanks for letting me know.

about my swing...my full swing iron is the major week point in my game. I'm still leaving shots out to the right. I've worked on getting more hip turn through impact and though I don't have "2 cheeks out", I'm getting closer as you can see in my avatar from an older video my hips are parallel to the targe line at impact. I can tell I'm still coming over the top. I don't know if I'm a one planer or 2 and I hit my 5 iron about 160 and want to work on getting more distance.

Re: Video of my Swing for Critique

Hi Durtman,

Working fine now, hey not a bad swing very good into impact no work needed there, no sign of comming over the top you have a great aproach to the ball.

The weakness is in the backswing, you are not getting into a position that lets you generate speed.

Watch the clip fram by frame,

First at hip hight the club head is inside the hands, try to get it more outside see my attachment.

Secondly and more a problem take the clip p until your hands are at cheast hight...............wow look how far behind your body your hands are, bring them forward towards the middle of your chest.

When practicing try to keep the hands in the middle of your chest on the takeaway.....again see my swing plane attachment.

Work on these first then post another swing.

Hope this helps

Ian.

Re: Video of my Swing for Critique

Ian,

Thanks a bunch, looking at the pics and my video, I see exactly what you are referring to....After trying a few swings it feels a bit odd and constrictive...but I did hear the club swishing through pretty fast when I took some full swings. Thanks again

Dustan

Re: Video of my Swing for Critique

tottally agree with IAN on the backswing. also, You loose some spine angle in the backswing whenn you get to the top. after backswing you need to focus on extension down the line after imact, you are chicken winging it. MAKE SURE YOUR GRIP IS GOOD

Re: Video of my Swing for Critique

Your clubhead seems to be a bit closed (pointing towards the sky?) at the top. It should be in line with your swing plane I believe.

And why are you hitting balls into the woods?

Re: Video of my Swing for Critique

Thanks all for the advice.

shootin4par, I see what your saying about the spine angle and I can see that I'm lifting out a bit right after impact. Is the lifting after impact a bad thing?

Because that's where the least people live? But seriously, ever heard a golf ball bounce off a metal roof? Also, all the fields around here have horses in them and they seem to like to eat golf balls.

I hung a large blanket from the ceiling in my rec room last night to hit balls into and focus on keeping my hands in the center of my chest. I was hitting them dead center of the blanket and digging the new way of swinging and decided to hit a couple with my eyes shut. HA, first ball...crash...should have know better than put the blanket close to the window. At least it was double paned and and the screen stopped it from going outside so I didn't lose a ball.

Guess i should have said and I can ALSO see that I'm lifing my whole body at/post impact. I'll be off to the range today to focus on keeping my back straight and hands in the center of my chest.

Re: Video of my Swing for Critique

durtman, you loose it on the downswing, (around impact) because you cut across the target line. take a clubhead cover and put it one foot in front and four inches to the inside of the ball, focus on getting your swing path with more extension DOWN the target line. That alone will clear up a lot of swing flaws. you will probably leave shots to the right, and that is ok cause then you can focus on release and that will straighten it out.

Re: Video of my Swing for Critique

ok, you need to work on turning your shoulders 90 degrees. At this point you are simply picking up the club without any shoulder rotation. Your shoulders need to get behind the ball on the back swing. In addition, you need to widen your swing arc. At the top of the back swing there should be some distance between your hands and your head.

Re: Video of my Swing for Critique

msklar92 exactly what i was going to say. Also try to keep ur left arm straight throughout the backswing, and um you could do with a little more lag. A little meaning 0.01 seconds more.

Re: Video of my Swing for Critique

Thanks again for all the responses. Went to the range yesterday and bashed about 100 balls with my irons with my only swing thought being arms in the center. My timing is still a bit off but, and its a big one, I went from hitting my 8 iron in the 130's to carrying 150 and my ball flight was much higher than before. Also hit some of the longest drives in my life, some carrying 260 yards where my previous drive were in the 220-30 range. Couple more range sessions and I'll post a new video.
