Two immediate options.

Strengthen your grip.

Setup with your driver face more closed (and use the same grip).

Re: Open Clubface @ Impact

when you say same grip, do you mean the same grip as I am using now or the stronger one, while closing the clubface

Re: Open Clubface @ Impact

EITHER strengthen your grip,

OR close your clubface. Both will probably produce a snap hook.

Unless your grip is clearly weak or your clubface is open at address, those sound a bit like band-aids, no?

Well, without seeing the swing, I don't know that there's much we can do.

It could be that he's holding his lag through impact as well - holding the face open.

This is solved by setting up with the face more closed.

It could be that his grip is too weak, and when he releases, the face is open.

This is solved by strengthening his grip.

I'm not quite sure what else to do to solve an open clubface.

Re: Open Clubface @ Impact

Have you had problems blocking the ball to the right? I suspect that you have had your club open at impact before but not noticed it. I am no pro but there are several things that may cause this not the least of which is how you set and hinge your wrists. I too have been curious by what is actually meant by a stronger grip. Does it simply mean to grip the club tighter or does mean to rotate both hands towards each other?

Re: Open Clubface @ Impact

It sometimes feels like I am not rolling my wrists through impact, my follow through does go all the way pointing towards the target

Re: Open Clubface @ Impact

jambalaya, a stronger grip means to rotate both hands further away from target.

Lance - that's an indicator that you're probably holding the clubface open (if you're not rolling your wrists over).

Re: Open Clubface @ Impact

My advice:
1. check grip-it must be neutral
2. alignment-square or maybe a little closed if you have problems with shoulder turn
3. make sure your clubface is square at address
4. make sure your transition from the top is smooooooth-no rushing
5. check clubface halfway back to make sure it points up
6. swing down from inside to square
I would advise against the following:
mainipulating clubface at address
taking a strong grip
other tricks than won't hold up over time or under pressure

Yeah I was on the driving range the other day hitting my irons, and I found I kept on slicing everything which was alarming. I checked my backswing which seemed fine. My tempo and contact ect were fine. I concentrated on the throughswing and rolling my wrists more and immediately things straightened up.
