Eureka!!! Videotaped and photographed my swing today

I have been struggling mightily since coming back to playing after a 5 year layoff. Shots have been going all over the place. I just got a new digital camera so I took it the range with me and figured out 2 huge things and saw some great results.

1) And most important. I was looking to see my right wrist angle at impact but what I noticed was at impact I could see the entire back of my left hand. I always assumed my grip was good, but I quickly realized this whole time it was too strong. Which was causing me to really flip through and be "handsy" in my swing . I weakened the grip to where my v's pointed to middle of right shoulder and saw IMMEDIATE good results. I mean, I don't think I have ever hit the ball this consistently straight or with a slight controlled fade at the end EVER. I normally would either hit a draw to a snap hook or not bee handsy enough and hit a huge push fade. all sorts of things. I hit over 100 balls with only about 5-10 really bad ones which is a huge improvement for me. I am so excited.

2) If you read my other thread, I had a stiff right leg which someone mentioned might cause me to reverse pivot. I did see a slight reverse pivot at the top, but that is not something I can just fix right away. I don't know if I am rp'ing for sure because I am a big ol strong country bred boy. I am actually pretty happy with my swing but know I have some faults. I

I am definitely casting the club a bit and do not retain my right wrist angle, but my Secret is on the way

I will try to figure out how to post the video, but I am also going to try to post the pics of the grip.

GRRRRRRRRRRR, evidently I can't figure out how to do either one, and my 22 month old is climbing all over me so I don't have time to figure out right now.

Seriously,

If I had not seen this so many times over the last 1.5 years, I wouldn't believe it. The only crucible for the swing is video. If you could sue for bad advice, many pros would be out of business (and the good ones would be worshipped.)

Great job on getting closer to the heart of the problem.

Now, if you can help me solve my habits--I know what the problems are, but change my bad habits is a killer. If I could find a good training device for proper clearing of the hips, I would be very grateful.

By the way, I do think that Greg's advice on his web page is some of the best and most fundamental I've seen. He just needs to move to SoCal to give lessons.

Please post picture at impact of the whole body.

(Save as a JPEG, and click on the manage attachment button to upload it.)

I am surprised that you are able to get this far over unless you are not properly clearing the hips and getting the body open at impact. The only person that needed to weaken their grip was the great Hogan, who had such a radical swing, that he worked a weaker grip.

Most of us aren't Hogan.
