Sweeping Or ????????????

Hey everyone, question, I feel like i am not hitting irons 5 to pw correctly, like I am not hitting down on them. Is the possibility of moving the ball back in my stance help this or should I try to get more upright? Starting backswing with left arm/hand, on downswing I fell that there is no power, I also have been hitting slight fade woth these 5 to pw,slight strong left hand with normal right hand on shaft, any ideas thanks

Re: Sweeping Or ????????????

A golf swing bottoms out level with your left armpit (Right Handers), to hit down on the ball it must be placed right of this position.

A 5/6 iron and longer should sweeep the ball so it should be placed near your left armpit, a 7 to PW should hit down on the ball so it should be placed central in your stance, make a mental image of the club hitting down at the back of the ball and bottoming out just past it.

You should narrow the stance between your feet as the club number gets higher. Are you creating a fade or a slice? there is a big difference. It is almost impossible to draw or fade shots with wedges as the backspin negates the required sidespin for these shots.

Hope this helps
Brian
