To point..or not to point, that is the question..

Hello all GTOers,

I have read two differnt thoughts on your hip turn. I have even seen two golf pros start a heated debt about it at my local golfing place.

1: During the golf swing, you turn your hips with pointing your left knee at the golf ball. Helping you turn on a level plane.

OR

2: During the golf swing, you turn your hips kepting the left knee and thig inside your hips. Not letting your knees outside your "hip area."

Lets here from ya'll and see what you think....

Re: To point..or not to point, that is the question..

If I have this right, in a 2 plane swing, the hip movement is less restricted. As the hips turn on the back swing there is a natural movement of the knee behind the ball as the weight shifts to the right side. What can sometimes happen, too much knee movement can collapse the left knee and left side and your weight can shift to the left side. In a 2 plane swing this is undesirable.
In a 1 plane swing, the stance is wider, there is less hip movement on the backswing and hence less knee movement. your weight remains more evently distributed over the ball and can even tend to shift to the left side without affecting ball striking.
