Driver help, new guy

I am new to this forum and I am looking for a little guidance. I am extremely inconsistent off the tee. For example I played 18 holes today and my 14 drives(excluding par 3's) broke down as follows: I averaged 260 yards on 8 of my drives and I was in or close to the fairway. On the other 6 drives I hit 100 yard worm burners to the left. The only way I get any success off the tee is to try and prevent my right side from moving on the downswing. The problem is that I think I am sliding on the backswing and using all arms and no shoulder turn. i would appreciate any help to become more consistent.

Re: Driver help, new guy

Hi Smith,
I hit my driver really well and I do this by following this set up:
1, Make sure the grip is firm but not tight
2, A stance that brings my feet no wider than my shoulders.
3.Tilt your right shoulder to encourage an upward strike on the ball.
4.A slow takeaway and strike through the ball

Hope this helps

Re: Driver help, new guy

I had a round yesterday myself, we only have 3 par 3's on my local course and I hit 13 fairways

Averaging about 260 yards.

I would like to hit it further but anyway.

My secret was simple. I took a very short smooth slowish back swing and just gently swept the ball off the tee with no real power, I hit straight all day and still managed atleast 250 yards+ each driver.

The rest of my game was off though, lol..
