| Common causes for off-the-toe irons This is a malady to which I return often. One day, I'm hitting my irons great (for me ) and the next day, it's off the toe with them all.I am hoping that you folks can give me some common causes for hitting irons off the toe and, perhaps in your kindness, some cures. Thanks, Bill |

| Re: Common causes for off-the-toe irons Toe hits can be solved easily if you are standing too far away from the ball. You just stand closer at address if this is the problem. Another posible problem is standing too erect, or raising up on the shot, which could pull the club head in closer to the body during the down swing. Check you address position, and/or don'y raise up through the down swing. Most of the time however, the culprit will be an out to in swing where you are cutting across the target line from the out side to inside. That club swing path, brings the club closer to your body. Cure here might be to check your take away, and make sure you are not taking the club head back out side your target line. Either straight back, or a littl inside on the take away will most likely solve the problem. The one piece take away will also help to cure the problem. Above are the most common toe hit issues that I know of. When I start hitting off the toe, my problem 99% of the time is the out to in swing problem. GJS |
