Advice about Balls? Everyone knows there is a difference between a range ball full of smiles, and a a brand new Titleist pro VI, but is there a specific type of ball one should play relative to thier game? For example: My clubhead speed is very fast (119.5 average over 40 swings), and my backswing is fairly short. Is there a particular type of ball (brand, hardness etc.) that would be benificial to play for this type of swing? Does it matter whether teeing off with a driver or with a 7 iron?

Re: Advice about Balls? Ian, yeah i posted in the other thread as well, that i rarely use the same type of ball in consecutive rounds. I generally only check to see if they are clean. Didnt know that a ball could make that much difference. thanks

Re: Advice about Balls? Yes, Titilest PROV1 X would be my choice for you, but I use the PROV1 softer version. Try and go for a Good reputable ball Nike is fine as is Callaway, but read the box and look for swing speed on the back. Unfortunatley you have the speed of a great golfer and you will have to pay the price for that in your ball costs. Sorry Ian.

Re: Advice about Balls? Funny Not when you settle down with a consistant ball, your scores will tumble............on a serious note your putting will improve alot too with a good ball, it will feel a lot better off the face with a good ball. I am excited for you..............!! Ian.

| Re: Advice about Balls? I sometimes feel the same, this game is almost like an addiction. How many times do you get to the end of a round and discover some feeling that works and then you can't wait till next time. I suggest you buy some balls on the way home and have a putting session on the carpet at home, or just shut and play. It's only 9.30am in the UK I could play 36 before dark. Ian. | Re: Advice about Balls? I am going on 4:30 in the afternoon here in Thailand. I am really lucky in that the course (6900 yards) is only a 5 minute drive. A fully caddied round of 18 is 6.5 pounds (12 USD). 3 nice free putting greens as well. |

Re: Advice about Balls? Another good ball for hard-hitters is the Callaway Big Bertha. Just if you don't feel like paying the V1x prices. Probably won't spin as much though.

Re: Advice about Balls? Have any of you read the Consumer Reports' golf ball ratings? You can view the report here . You can also find a link that describes how these tests were carried out. One of my co-workers showed me this report. He tried the Nike Power Distance Super Soft because of their rating and price. He loves them and can't believe how soft they are. I am going to try those next.

Talk about an "obsession" with golf.I risked getting fired for the last 15 months everyday by taking an hour and a half at the range for my lunch break at work.I am only allowed a half hour. Finally one day while there i accidently ran into a part of the clubhouse with the company vehicle while backing up.It caused $450.00 in damage to the building which my work's insurance had to pay for.My boss never asked what i was doing there at this particlar time in the afternoon.Guess they know. But my game has really improved(especially short game)..and thats all that really matters..right?And yes..i still continue to take my hour/hour and a half lunch there.NOW...whos got it that bad???David Last edited by spankit; 05-19-2006 at 02:56 PM.
