Re: My Swing : Please Critique :)

Okay, here it is.

http://www.myfilehut.com/userfiles/4...wing-05-22.wmv

I've included different views as well as my driver swing.

It's safe to say, after reviewing and watching these swings, I'm not happy. I notice right away that I dont get in "the slot" on my downswing. And most of all I don't stay on plane. I felt like I was hitting the ball really well early this month and last month when I focused on just my left leg. What I would do is envision a big rubberband pushing it back at the top of the swing. This released my hips and let the club drop.

For some reason I can't figure it out.

Re: My Swing : Please Critique :)

been working on it all day, it's great that I can see my problems now. this whole time I thought I had a decent swing - just goes to show you.

my focus for now is definitely staying on plane.

I don't know what I'm doing right anymore. I'm saving up to get some lessons from the PGA pro here, maybe he's the only one that can fix my swing.

Matt, one good thing is your swing looks nice and relaxed. However, your hips look like they start turning as you start your takeaway. Try keeping them quieter until the rotation of your upper body pulls them along.

Re: My Swing : Please Critique :)

thanks tigress - I've been focusing on that.

here is the most latest swing. It felt (haven't tested on the range yet) alot better having the inside of my left arm close to my chest. This seemed to eliminate the beginning of my OTT swing.

My main concern is my balance and head position, I have tendency to move my head and lean forward on my follow through - also have an unfinished follow through. Also have a tendency to not rollover my forearms, which more than likely keeps the clubface open.

thanks for helping me out as always, fellow GTO members.

sounds like a good idea but I will tell you this, your updated swing will have a lot less to fix when you do go see him. your set up is 10X better, sorry to hear you are not hitting the ball better but your practice swing looks better, much better

thanks shooting

actually today's ball striking was before all the changes I made in that practice sequence - so as you can tell - i'm very excited to hit the range bright and early tomorrow.

I just cant wait till I get my iron game down - my short game is what bails me out consistently, so I have no extreme problems there - chipped in a bump and run 7iron from 20 yards out, that felt great.

Thanks for not givin up on me yet

Re: My Swing : Please Critique :)

keep this in mind. when you change set up your body and mind will still be used to the old swing and want to revert back there. but if you do it dilligently and without frustration, for some people I have seen the changes in one bucket, your body will start addapting to the new set up and your swing will evolve with NO changes in your conscious swing thought. PLEASE GIVE IT SOME TIME, good luck in the AM, and dont expect miracles, go with the objective of hitting ONE good shot in your first ten, then one out of five for the rest of your session tomorrow, in a week it may turn into 3 out of five, in 2-3 weeks maybe 4/5.
and btw, you spelled my name wrong

just messing with ya

Re: My Swing : Please Critique :)

haha, see I'm ready to shoot some pars myself (never gotten a birdie).

Thanks for the encouragement, I don't expect instant results - but I like the fact that this swing feels comfortable to me, hopefully when I put the ball in the swing it'll produce good and consistent results.

Will try my best to put up a video of some balls hit at the range, not having a tripod to hold the camera wont' help much though.

btw, shootin (sp?) hehe , do you not have any videos of your swing? I'd love to see them if any are about.

thanks again

matt,
my computer literacy is not that good, so for me trying to post a video would be like smashing my thumb with a hammer, a lot of pain.

Re: My Swing : Please Critique :)

ah, that's unfortunate shootin

Okay!! I'm really excited to say that today's range session was very satisfying.

Like you said, Shootin, I took out my 7iron and focused on hitting one good shot. So I took out 5 balls and hit 4/5 pure - I was so happy that I rushed my 5th shot and it hooked - that's right hooked! (long time slicer).

I wanted to hit pure and I did with the majority of all my clubs, the long irons such as my 3iron and 4iron were a bit difficult. I went to Golf Galaxy today and got a pre-owned Ben Hogan 3iron EdgeCFT Hybrid - my sister works there so i got it for about $30 (sold for $70). So that will most likely replace my 3iron.

Okay, the downsides.

After reviewing my new video at the range - it looks like I'm casting a bit, which is probably the culprit of my lack of yardage - but the fact that I was using range balls didn't help matters I'm sure. I've tried so hard to work on Greg's RH drill, but it just doesn't work for me - I either chunk it or just don't feel relaxed - I'll have to work on it some more.

Another thing might be I'm not following through completely at impact, this is a problem with the driver as well.

Okay, critique away

Re: My Swing : Please Critique :)

MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you are stil coming over the top, do a search on the three ball drill and if you learn that you will have a better path and your finish should happen naturally if you remain relaxed. But once again it looks a world apart. KEEP FOCUSING ON SET UP and watch your swing evolve

Re: My Swing : Please Critique :)

Thanks alot guys. Feels good to hear I'm doing some things right and somewhat improving.

Shootin, do you think the fact I'm coming OTT is robbing me of some distance? I'll do a search for the three ball drill pronto!

thanks again
