Swing Changes-Question for Teaching Pros

I've been taking lessons from a pro at my golf course. It has really helped my swing and I hit alot of great shots when I'm working with him. The problem is that when I go out on the course I dont hit the same shots. I feel like I'm trying to think about 5 different things at once. My question is should I just try and groove my new swing on the range and stay off the course for awhile until I can repeat it without thinking so much? Also, should I focus on grooving my swing with my shorter irons for awhile and not worry about hitting long irons and driver on the range?

Re: Swing Changes-Question for Teaching Pros

Hi Jbm,

Two things, your pro shouldn't be giving you 5 things to work on....!! this is too many, unfortunatley the answer is not one you are going to like......................you need to work on two things at a time minimum for at least six weeks maybe more depending on the individual, the best thing to do is video the swing now and in six weeks do it again and see if the changes are fine then move on to the next two.

Secondly,

You should be fine playing with only one or two swing thoughts, depending on your practice facility you can practice as often as you like with short or long irons but remember it is quality not quantity also try to get a friend or use a camera to check the move that you are working on, but don't let the friend give any other advice he is just there to observe the position your working on once you have showed him the position your looking for of course............!!

Good Luck

Ian.
