Changed my swing, and now i've lost everything!!!

I recently came on here to address some problems with grip and general stance, and afterwards my swing improved dramatically.

Since then I have been trying to incorporate a technique a friend of mine has told me about since taking lessons, which basically invloves having the right arm tucked in much closer to the body and using the clubhead to give direction and add power.

At the moment i'm in between my old swing, and this new one, which i know is technically better, but very frustrating.

Any tips on swinging with the right arm tucked closer in ?

You want MORE tips? I would stop. Take a step back. Get 1 swing back that works and ease into the change process again. Another lesson with the pro is next. Tell him what you want. Maybe the new idea of connection is what you want, but let the pro help you through it, not your buddy mentioning it to you and screwing you all up.

i'm inclined to agree with you, i don't think hearing about a lesson someone else has had second hand is a good idea.

i'm going to go to the range tonight and get my swing working again, i'm playing in my first tournament on wednesday, and i don't want to go round in 150 !!!

thanks for the advice

Right arm/elbow tucked has worked great for me but I'm not an instructor in any sense of the word at this forum. GregJ is. I would follow his suggestion and in fact did that very thing a couple of weeks ago when all the things I was trying just resulted in everything getting screwed up. I just stopped trying it all and went back to just trying to swing the club with a natural relaxed swing and started again from there. Things started coming together better one piece at a time. I have not gone to a pro yet but that is just me .

Especially before a tournament. Play golf. Putt and chip 75% of the time when you do practice. Hit maybe 20 shots on the range. Take what you have and groove that into your sleep. Be confident in that what you are doing right now is what will work, and work well.
