My glove it getting worn in one spot

I find that my glove is getting worn down a lot in the same spot, on the bottom left side of my right palm (as i look at it)

is this a common phenomenon ?

does it say something about my grip ?

How many rounds does it take to get to this point?

Re: My glove it getting worn in one spot

i bought a new white glove and noticed the wear after 1 session at the driving range, so probably 100 balls, there's clearly a lot of pressure and friction on that part of my hand

Re: My glove it getting worn in one spot

You either are relaxing the grip pressure throughout the swing and getting slippage during the swing, or you are just in a bad grip and impact is causing the slippage.

Pressure is constant. On a scale of 1-10 where 1 is the club starting to slip out, and 10 is where blood starts to drip down the shaft from your fingernails ripping gaping holes in your palm...you want a 2.

A bad grip is hard to know what you are doing without see it in action. We can sit here and explain the grip to you but you reading it and doing it is another thing.

Re: My glove it getting worn in one spot

ok, i'll try and make a conscious effort to maintain my grip throughout the swing, and not to grip too hard !

Re: My glove it getting worn in one spot

Hi Moltisanti.
you are gripping the club too high in the palm of you hand. Try to grip with the club running from the base of the little finger to the first crease at the tip of your forefinger of the left hand. This will stop the glove wearing out and give you far more control over the clubhead.

Regards .Terry

Re: My glove it getting worn in one spot

Me too, looking at my left hand the bottom right gets very worn, I think its more to do with my left hand letting go at the end of my swing and the top of the grip rubbing against the glove...
Wouldnt mind fixing it though...

Re: My glove it getting worn in one spot

This must be normal wear and tear (obviously how quickly this happens is a point of discussion). The fact is, all golf gloves have an extra reenforced area on that portion of the glove.

Re: My glove it getting worn in one spot

I have had exactly the same proble since I started golf (4 years ago)

I went for my first lesson last week and the pro spotted it immediately and showed me on the video - letting go at the top with the left hand and re-gripping it before swinging down.

He wasn't too concerned and said we would work on this later, his main concern was correcting my inside takeaway (also most evident on the video) which caused a slight over the top move.

Incidentally, I cannot recomend a video lesson too much - I hit 5-6 perfect (I thought) shots which he then disected on tape and showed me the above blatantly obvious faults.

When he subsequently stood behind me holding a club in a position so that I had to take the club back more straight and come down more on the inside, the result was fantastic!

It looked a whole lot better too!

Spend $12.00 and get Ben Hogan's Five Lessons. Guarantee a little reading and your grip will change dramatically.

Ah, the infamous glove problem. Do like me, don't use one. You never know, might work just fine for you.
