Anyone ever heard of LPG???

Leverage-power golf is what it stands for. i heard about it online and this guy seems like a total crackpot and the swing is the most discusting looking thing i have ever seen. i tried it and hit my 9i about 120 which isn't too bad compared to most amaterus. but it is WEIRD. basiclly it talks about generating almost no power with core and all its power is by straitening the left arm and using the leverage of the tricep to hit the ball. this would be a great golf swing for strong people. hahaha one of the reasons i like golf is because i am not i big guy and i can get big destances (compared to some) i think big athletes are turned off by golf but they would be big hitters if they tried.... mark maguire has a 5 handycap and has a been clocked at 140SS with a 45inch shaft!!! most long drivers hit 140-150mph with 50" shafts, if mark had a 50" he would be hitting 170mph swing speed! with ball speeds well over 250mph, which is over 400yds, that is rediculous!!! but back to the thread.

here is a video of the weirdest golf swing you have ever seen
http://www.scigolf.com/scigolf/vidjack.htm

you can read about his methodology and sceices and kenitics and physics about how the hips do not turn the arm and so on at his site.

i was just wonder ing if it would be possible to use certain power points form his method like a slight left arm bend to get a but more leverage from the left arm?

here is a picture (top of swing) of holmes with his left arm slightly bent, anyone think that is possably how he gets so much power?

Re: Lpg??

Hey,

I know your going to think I'm mad here but there is some serious milage in this as a drill only though..........

Now watch the clip and once you stop laughing you will see that in effect he is purley creating the late hit, what a great drill to teach someone how to release the club properly from the first move down.

It's only my opinion so don't all jump on my back, but I just think you should look at Sergio/Charles Howel who are very late, the club is very close to their neck as they start down and then release as the guy in the clip explains.

Good Stuff

Re: Lpg??

...but how is it a late hit if there's no wrist cock to be held? He seems to just be throwing the clubhead at the ball not sustaining any sort of lag, at least not in the slow motion demo.

Re: Lpg??

i don't think he is creating a late hit either, but i think he is just using the leverage from the extengding the tricep. it does mathematically make sense, but i just think the body can create more power for most people unless you are a body builder. i tried it today and hit my 3W 180 which isn't bad, but not great either, and it was real easy to hit it fat. it is just creating another hinge to build club head speed. just like the rist cocking and uncocking creates SS so does the elbow bent and extending (essentialy cocking and uncocking) to create SS.

i might actaully try to impliment this into my swing, i will keep you posted on my sucess. only problem is i have to learn myself how to do it. it took over 2 months and hundreds of different oppinions and techniqies to finally get my wrist cock down so no one is going to be able to help me with drills or anything for this.

Re: Lpg??

Guys

I think he actually achieves all the correct positions required for a late hit and a solid strike, however you are correct not technically a late hit as we know hit using the wrists he simply uses the elbow instead of the wrist.

The body movement and impact are fine, I stand by my comments that this could help achieve the feeling required for a late hit, but of course I don't think this is a good way of swinging the club..............just a drill.
