Wife is letting me golf again, please critique my swing

I am working on accelerating through the ball at impact, trying to hold onto the release to maximize crisp impact and max clubhead velocity at impact.
I am releasing about 4-6 inches before impact with the ball.
Video 3 is the drill my pro is working with me on. To get my left arm competing with my right. He says right arm is too strong and I have to teach my left to speed up a bit.

one thing that stands out to me, is that you do not get more then 90* of wrist cock, makes me wonder about your grip but I cannot see it well enough. Now you say you are trying to hold on to the release, that will not work. you cannot hold on to the release. Are you trying to pull the but end down the target line. If the right hand is overpowering the left it could be because you are not allowing the left fore arm to rotate, so the only way to release the club is for the right arm to flip it through impact.

Re: Wife is letting me golf again, please critique my swing

i don't have a swing anylyzer and can't see the swing in slo mo, i hel better by hearing ball fligh charactoritics but the help you right hand have less of a role

it is alot like your drill but i like the right hand to have a small role but still a role, i don't like that wrist grab method. ( i know this sounds wierd) but sometimes my right hand will take over and hold the face open so i used a 2 and sometimes 3 finger overlap (one finger on the club really) and that helped me to have less of a right hand role. then do back to your old grip.

*also remember having a very loose grip and arms. to much tension can prevent you from releasing the club. almost feel that your grip is so loose that the club feels almost heavy and hard to bring to the top.

you need good grips on your club, tension is a swing killer! hold the club in your fingers and not the palms.

a grip in the fingers of the left hand can shut the face down. Right hand is in the fingers, left hand is diagonal from pointer finger to under the heal pad of the palm, or somewhere similar

yes, but even though it is diaganol it is stil in fingers. and most likely the thumb should be close if not in line with the index finger

Nice swing, good follow through, well balanced at the finished. Left wrist flat at impact. Shoulders behind the ball on the backswing. The only thing I notice is that your right leg seems to straighten up a bit on the backswing. I get the feeling from you swing that you are very consistent
and adequately long enough. Mike.

Re: Wife is letting me golf again, please critique my swing

Thanks guys,

One thing I noticed while watching videos of the pros, is that I am not taking a back swing nearly as far as I could (1 o clock). My swing seems like a 80% swing.
If I do take it back further (3 o clock), have more wrist cock, pull down aggressively, will that help me to hold the club head release longer?

Re: Wife is letting me golf again, please critique my swing

its not all about gettin a full backswing...ive been told my backswing is to far several times...from what i have learned it is important to keep your right leg at the same angle during your swing..this helps in your rotation and if you straighten it, you will raise your right hip during your swing and hit thin..so if this is a problem i would first work on getting this down...trust me once you hit a ball keeping your right leg bent it will feel 100 times better..or at least it did with me...other than that you seem to have a great swing...hope this helps

Burnaby,
Looking at your videos, The only comment I would make is you could give yourself more wrist cock which should give you more distance. You seem to have very good tempo and a good solid leftside.
