Re: Total loss of swing Robert, Hang in there. You need to get your confidence back. You have the game - you just have to find it. It could be something really simple that you can not see. Do you have a coach? Don't over analyse (something I am guilty of at times). Golf is a true test of character. Don't let it beat you!!!!

I have had the same problem , but with driver. The more you try the worse it gets. its all in the mind, what i did is start playing and not scoring , to take the pressure off a bit. play a couple of rounds by missing a few holes so that you are not focused on breaking 80,90 or whatever for 18. Just play 15. I like to jump from different holes and just pick the ones i have trouble on or sometimes my better holes. When you think u are turning it around. Test yourself and play a full eighteen and see how u hold up. it works i played much more carew free, less tension and low and behold straight drives. Trust me dont go changing things all around because of a bad spell, pros have these same issues usually putting or short game , u name it... Its normal.. it is a mental break u need your skilss havent gone anywhere.. So give yourself a break and then attack the course with positive attitude.

Re: Total loss of swing tell me where in your stance do you place your ball, start with wedge and work up to driver also tell me how wide of a stance you have, rate it on a scale of 1-10 with one being very narrow, ten being very wide

Re: Total loss of swing TPG, The last thing I want to do is give up, but this game is such a leveller I am close to it. When my instructor is scratching his head for answers there isnt much left to look at. I am attending my coach over five years and he tells me I am one of the fastest learners he has had. He brought me from 21 to 10 h/cap, so this may give you an idea of where my game is now.!

Re: Total loss of swing the mental issue will only win if you let it. If needs be play a couple of rounds with just the 5 iron maybe a 9 and your putter. Slowly work in the clubs one at a time . next use a 5 iron puutter and say a gap wedge or pitching wedge, you will be surprised on how creative you get with each club. And you will realize you do have more skill in your bag with each club than u thought and it will bring back confidence. (Get Bob Rottella's Book. Golf is not a game of perfect and or golf is a game of confidence) Also your instructor has given u the tools and skill to use them on your own, your brain has it all logged in but you are trying to down load 2 much info at once. limiting clubs and decisions will help limit your info overload. all very normal. ![]()

Re: Total loss of swing Hi Shootin, Just spent the afternoon on the range (three hours). Took a wedge, 9,7,5, and just got 50 balls. My intention was to find an answer and not concentrate on repetitive ball striking. After a while I focused on my grip and concentrated on "feel" of the left hand on the shaft. I also worked on the feeling of the trigger finger in the right hand. Eventually, I got a good strike going and came home happy. Just by persisting with this drill and getting some level of result has boosted my confidence level. When it comes back it instills your belief in ability and gets you in a frame of mind thats needed to play this game. It also tells me that if your confidence is damaged it brings your game down. Thanks for your interest and help. Regards, Robert
