| Path of the clubhead My question is the path of the club head. I know it should come from the inside, square, inside. My question is the path from the top. It seems that the club comes downward towards the ground from the top. Then at waist level it moves toward the target line. Is the path a down then out motion or is it constantly moving toward the target line from the top? Also how do you move the club along the correct line? Pull with the arms, turn the body, push, etc. |

| Re: Path of the clubhead It depends on the type of plane you are swining on. 1-planers will have the club mocing toward the ball the whole time in a big round circle, 2-planers can have an vertical drop from the top and an abrupt return to the ball from the inside. How you get there also is determind by the plane. 1-planers do it with a torso drive (hips/shoulders), where the 2-planers get the arms and hands into the ball more generally with a pull, (but this is not an absolute, talking about pulling pushing is never somthing you can say the always the way, it feels different to each person) So how would you characterize your swing?

| Re: Path of the clubhead I would have to say a 2 plane swing. I have seen you guys talk about the one plane swing and I wouldn't try to learn that without a teacher. I am definately not in a position at the top to go directly for the ball. Also I have tried to pull the club through impact only to pull into a chicken wing. I am currently trying to bring the club down then turn everything through at once. Also does a good swing plane lead to a good impact position? Ben Hogan said in his book anyone who scoops at impact(pronate instead of supinate) is off plane. How do you feel about this? |
