I hear about swaying and how it is not right to do. I watched my swing on tape at my friends house (we brought a video camera to the course one day) and I noticed I sway way back on my back swing and go way towards the ball on my downswing into follow through. Why is swaying bad???

Well, simply put a sway changes the centre of gravity in your swing and it also changes the physical centre of the swing arc.

If you sway back, you have to sway forward into impact again and that's a lot of movement to get right everytime. Say you sway back 6" and only forward 5" you've moved the bottom of your swing away from the target by 1".

That's a simple example of why swaying is a problem.

Curtis Strange does this. If this motion is minimal (few inches) and repeatable I see this as no real problem. How can a 2 time US Open winner be wrong. However, this does not work for me. If I sway, it is an inch or two but no more.
