| Help! Need advice, please... Hey guys. I've been playing golf for about a year. Tough game... I practice a lot and I would say up until recently, I am happy with my progress. I'm still learning, but I gather a year (which is about 6 months here in the midwest) is not enough time to expect to find a swing and be consistent. But I keep working at it. Anyway, recently I started to notice a strange problem in my swing. There seems to be a problem sometimes where at the top of my takeaway, there is an awkward feeling where something is just not right. The club doesn't feel comfortable in my hands. The grip never feels right. When I do swing, its bad contact and weak hook time. I go to the range about 3-4 times a week and over the past 3 weeks this problem has become more and more of an issue. As much as I try not to...I have lost confidence. I don't get this "feeling" at home if I grab a club and swing a few times and it rarely happens in a practice swing. However, it did creep in when I was very confident, so I know it's not entirely mental. QUESTION: Can you just "lose your swing" out of nowhere like this? I have played sports my whole life and I've never succeeded (see my recent 300+ yard drive post...) and then just "lost" a shot like this. In basketball you can have off nights shooting but the ball doesn't suddenly feel "wrong" in your hands and your don't just forget how to shoot!!! HELP!! I'd like to say I recently learned to pitch/chip where my weight is on my front foot. Could there be a connection? Should I take a break or try to push through? I played a terrible round today and then went to the range and by the time I was finished my grip was lost and my swing was almost dead. Looking for any answers and/or advice. (I do have a lesson scheduled with my Pro.) Thanks so much for reading this and for any help, guys. |
