Set Up Hi Would like advise on set up.Due to mainly badly slicing ball 1) first of all I set my club face square to target. 2) then I set my feet square to club face. 3) I then find my left shoulder points naturally to left of target. ie shoulders not square to feet or club face. This is confirmed by placing a club shaft across my chest at set up. My question therefore is.What is the correct way for me to square my shoulders to the club face. a)keep feet as are and rotate shoulders to square.think this would then open club face? If so this would not be good b)keep shoulders still and move left foot forward enough to bring my shoulders square.Think this would would cause to much of an inside to outside swing path. Any advise would be appreciated

Re: Set Up For what it is worth, It could be that you think your clubface is square, but it is not. This is what was happening to me. When I took a lesson, the pro put my clubface square for me, then had me grip the club. The clubface was turned much more to the left than I would have ever turned it on my own. - Greg

Re: Set Up it may be as it was for me that you are square and nicely set up at adress, but as to take the club away from the ball you may be doing what slips into my game occasionly that you are fanning the face open slightly without realising. i cure this by keeping face square to taget of first portion of takeaway for longer then going ahead with normal swing. my reckoning, for me is if set up / grip is a little out i will get a little fade / draw but if i fan open/ closed disaster will follow.

Re: Set Up I was having the same problem. I would square the clubface to the ball, 2 waggles, then drive. Problem was, It sliced everytime. Then a friend showed me how on the practice swing the club face opened naturally. Try closing the club face slightly and taking a slow motion backswing. You should find that the club face is now square to the ball on the downswing. Good luck!

| Re: Set Up Hi, I agree with golfonenemesis. Bring the right hand in underneath your left so your shoulder drops. From here you can always check the line up by lifting your left arm up straight from your side (e.g towards the target). If it still points left you are not aligned correctly. I had a problem with my shoulder being off to the left a while ago - my pro told me to hold the club pointing to the target then lift it almost over my head and over to where my ball was. It is a good drill though hard to explain! If your shoulders are open you will notice how it pulls you into a new position. Check the hips and knees as well....
