Want to Learn to Draw!!!

I'm a right-handed golfer and have traditionally or habitually been a fade/slice hitter with my driver. Have cured the driver by shortening the shaft - now hit straighter with no loss in distance.

I have tried setting up for a draw and when I do I typically hit the ball dead straight.

Here's how I set up. I aim right of the target and move my back foot so that it is in line with the heel of my front foot. I've tried moving the ball some in my stance, but I can't get the results that I want.

I believe that a draw is a must have tool to lower golf scores and more successful playing. Any advice from those hwo have mastered this shot is greatly appreciated.

Re: Want to Learn to Fade!!!

Do you mean you want to learn to "Draw"?

Re: Want to Learn to Fade!!!

Easiest way for me to put a draw on the ball is take my normal stance about 1" further from the ball than normal. This causes the hands to drop down lower, promotes a flatter swing and the ball draws.

Re: Want to Learn to Fade!!!

you got it right you just have to close club face before griping club, club face should point to where you want ball to land, you can move the ball a little more forward and away at set up this will also help.

Re: Want to Learn to Fade!!!

1) Your natural swing path is outside to inside. To hit a draw you need to develop an inside to inside swing path.
2) I think all you are doing when you change your set up the way you described is setting up for a hook. However since your swing path remains outside to inside you are actually pulling the ball but it is going straight becuase you are initally aimed right
3) There are 2 things you can try to promote a more inside-inside path. 1st aim for the inside quarter of the ball. 2cd - place a shoe box just outside the traget line behind the ball - swing and don't hit the shoe box. if you hit the box you know you are outside in.
4) Have someone check you grip to make sure it is strong enough. It is difficult to hit a draw with a weak grip.
