| Problem with my NEW irons Hi, I have just recently bought a set of the Cleveland TA7 Irons which are half an inch longer than normal, I took a 5 Iron onto the practice field as soon as I bought them and hit it fine. Then after a few days my shots have become worse so I decided to get myself a lesson off the professional. He said that I wasnt tranfering my weight propely and I was moving my back leg backwards when it should be still all the way through. Since this I have been playing shit. I have practiced all this week and sadly I havnt got any better. I look my old Irons back onto the practice field and I hit them good, straight and quite far everytime, but I cant hit my new irons. Do you think this is because they are longer? or do you think I am doing something wrong? Its as though |I keep thinning the ball and not hitting the sweet spot and the ball isnt going very high in the air ![]() HELPPPPPP

| Sounds like you hit your other irons really well. Why would you buy new ones? We make the game harder on ourselves when we keep switching our equipment. It actually costs less to take a few lessons and 1000's of practice balls than it does to buy new equipment. And with a great swing you can play well with just about anything. But, probably the best advice i could give you is learn golf course strategy and playing within your strengths! ![]() |

| Re: Problem with my NEW irons Half an inch will make a difference, yes but only a marginal difference. Check the specs like swingweight, gross weight, shaft flex and lie angle. That's not your problem ... Your problem is poor weight transfer. You either do it or you don't ... you won't transfer properly with your old irons and not with your new irons. You'll swing the same. But, you might find that because you know your old irons well you get away with it but not with the TA7's. I suggest you find nother pro and get him to look at your swing (but don't tell him what the othe rpro said) using your old irons and compare the opinions. It might be that during the lesson with your new irons you changed your swing. I see that quite a lot. Okay? Post again if you need more help.

| Re: Problem with my NEW irons Consider this ... Which is worse - top branded clubs in factory released condition or cheaper/ordinary clubs that have been measured correctly for you? I know some people adjust their swing to fit their clubs rather than adjusting the club to fit the player. The answer is the level you play at; if you want to take the game seriously you really need to get your clubs adjusted. Paul |

| Re: Problem with my NEW irons well first of all what are your specs like lieangle and that sort of stuff and are they the same as your old clubs. Are your new ones fitted by a pro or are they off the shelf. And what type were your old ones yeah but see a pro and tell him and get him to take a look at the specks of them and keep trying. Golf rules and keep on rolling it ![]() |
