Hitting it fat.

Fat shots have crept into my repetoire of bad golf shots and I am completely frustrated since they are costing me about 20 shots per game.

Does anyone have any advice or drills to cure me of this ailment?

I think my swing may be too steep as I am hitting a lot of slices as well.

dear Snowman,

I dont express to be correct on this one, but I think it may be the ball position in your stance. You are probably playing it too far forward in your stance, hence the sole of the club connects with the middle of the ball on impact rather than the ground. I am open to correction on this, but am fairly confident that i am some way correct

That is one diagnosis, but my ball position is centre or one ball width back of centre. I am hitting waaaay back of centre on the fat shots.

Re: Hitting it fat.

Two possible reasons I can think of :

1) Casting (ie. wrists breaking too early)
2) Not transferring weight to your front (ie. hanging back)

Re: Hitting it fat.

Do you hit the ball fat on short, punch shots with your feet closer together?
If so you are probably swaying rather than turning.
To counter act this dont let your weight get to the outside of each foot.
Inside of back foot to inside of front foot...never the outside.
