hitting down on the ball!!

not sure if this is correct or i was just lucky. this is regardng 3 wood and driver. during set up i am working on letting my arms form a v in the center of my stance with these clubs doing the same. i am placing the ball on a T just ahead of the club face. it feels wierd and looks strange.

the idea is to perform the swing so that it bottoms out just as it returns to this position. i dont ground the club as the T is too high, half a ball above the club face if it was on the ground.

in the past i have set the ball on the T far in front of this postion and move the club face to a position behind where the ball is set in oder to position as i see on TV or else where. but now i wonder if this is correct.

its like i am moving the swing plan over to meet where the ball is and this changes alignement. so i have tried the above, do you think this is good?


i went this way as i tired setting the ball forward on a T then placing my arms and club behind the ball to form the V, but the club face ens up about 3 to 4 inches behind the club face and i swing through this area with this same plane and the ball is hit more on the up swing.!!!!

which is correct or does this make sense?

Hmmmm! A bit difficult to follow your gist.

I think you are referring to where you tee the ball in your stance for a driver or 3 wood. The driver (or 3 wood) should hit the ball just on the upstroke after the bottom arc of the swing, sweeping the ball off the tee.

A golf swing will bottom out in line with your left armpit (Right handers) this is due to your left arm leading the swing path, to allow the ball to be swept off the tee it should be placed just forward of this point, in line with your left heel, the club should therefore be placed behind this with your hands and head behind the ball.
