| Unsure? My friend has always said my backswing looks far too restricted and stiff however I always protest and say I am using my shoulders to complete the backswing as I believe you should do and that is how it might look as a result. After telling me for the 100th time my backswing looked all screwed up I made a backswing which felt as I was using only my arms in an attempt to shut him up. What followed was a dead straight 190 yard 4 iron! I used this method again in the following holes with much success. How should I continue to make my backswing? I'm no pro but I dont think this new swing feels correct. I'm a 21 handicapper so I'm not sure. Any ideas? Sam |

| Re: Unsure? Hard to answer the question without video of the 2 swings, but I have found that sometimes I feel I am doing something correct but in actuality it is not, (my guess is that is why just about every tour pro has a coach) if you have doubts perform the swings in front of a mirror and see what you think. Also, if you find a repeatable swing that goes dead straight with decent yardage I would be inclined to stick with it, after all Jim furyk has made a killing with a goofey back swing. |

| Re: Unsure? I'm with bob 100%. I thought I was swinging one-plane. I really did. I focused on turning around my spine, keeping my arms passive, etc. Well, I was dreadfully below the plane. I went to the range with my brother in law, and he started ribbing me because I couldn't do things on command - like hit the inside quarter of the ball. So I started over-manipulating my swing to hit these dead pushes. Then he told me to start swinging two plane - I couldn't get into good one plane positions, anyway. So I figured WTH, and did it. I then went out that night and shot 45 over 9 holes - a new personal best. I went home, got out the video camera, and lo and behold, I was no longer coming OTT, and was swinging on plane - one plane. The moral of the story is that feelings are deceptive. The other moral of the story is that if it ain't broke, don't fix it (but if it IS broke, find a mechanic!)
