| The secret of golf - David Blair Has anyone out there seen David's Blair instructional DVD "The Secret of Golf" or taken on his instructional principles. I read an article by David in Golf International back in 2004 and was quite impressed. I came across his DVD on EBAY and purchased a copy. The instruction is straight forward and really simplifies the swing. I put his principles into practice last night and struck the ball very well. I played nine holes and hit five fairways out of 6. I was not as good in terms of greens in reg, hitting 4 out of nine, but this was playing in an exceptionally strong wind, which alongside the firm ground conditions in the UK at present which made hitting the greens tough (apart from Tiger the other week ). It was an improvement on my play on the Sunday, and last night and could hit my 1 iron again. Here's a link to David's website that explains his philosphy and also contains the articles he has had published in the golf magazine. The "All About Speed" article in Golf Interantional is very good. His teaching principles for me are a blend of Henry Cotton (educating the hands), Ben Hogan, Ballard and Leadbetter (Connection and body turn)- but put together in a simple format. http://www.davidblairgolf.com/ |

His delivery was superb and he will help a great many people with his drills on release. However, i'm not a big fan of how he advocates the locking of the arms at address, this can ultimately lead to tendon problems like golfers elbow( especially if you spend as much time on the range i do , could lead to repetitive strain syndrome ). at address your arms should be strait , or even slightly bowed( not locked ) and relaxed. Other than this tiny point the DVD was superb cheers. aft ![]() Last edited by aftford; 08-03-2006 at 02:02 PM. |

just a little note. I think you should be carefull of what you copy and offer to send in the open because:- 1. a lot of people will get in touch, I could be one, and want a copy. 2. you could get into a bit of bother if it gets out that your copying and sending to people. Cheers, Ian |

| Re: The secret of golf - David Blair I found these video clips of elements of David Blair's swing build programme last night. http://http://www.todaysgolfer.co.uk...2/?&R=EPI-7882 http://www.todaysgolfer.co.uk/Golf/v...g/?&R=EPI-7881 To play the videos, you'll will have to click on the play button a couple of times. With the first video I have posted, is the technique Blair advocates, fanning the club face a little, with the back of the left hand pointing to the sky in the drill? |

| Re: The secret of golf - David Blair Hi C Mays Do you agree with Blair's hand action drill in the link below? http://www.golfinternationalmag.co.u...vid_blair1.htm It seems to go against what Greg recommends in his Right Hand drill ie cocking the wrists up and down, as opposed to side to side. Thanks Rackster |
