Hitch in Backswing...

Lately (past month or so) I've developed a little hitch in my backswing...it's almost like I take the club back then stop...then
take a little further back before beginning my downswing.

I'm very aware I'm doing it and I don't seem to be getting off plane
but it's quite annoying. If I take some time and focus, I can usually
work past it but even that only works 50% of the time.

Any good swing thoughts that might help me keep on track in one
smooth motion? I'm assuming this is a mental thing for me - nothing
else has really changed lately in my swing.

Thanks very much!

Re: Hitch in Backswing...

Get a tempo going. Count one for your back swing, two to go foward. No pause .

One word ... iPod!

Take your iPod (or other music device) to the practice range and find a song with a nice relaxed tempo.

Then swing to the beat!

Not only does it work ... it also looks cool

Re: Hitch in Backswing...

Thanks msklar92, puttinone, and Mox for the help. I have caught myself
gripping a bit tight lately and my tempo is certainly off. I've tried my iPod on the range but the way my songs are organized, it's almost more distracting than helpful. Maybe it's time to set up a golf practice playlist... Thanks again.

Re: Hitch in Backswing...

I have a problem starting my backswing I cant seem to get comfy over the ball it seems as if I'm waiting for ages! I think Garcia had the same sort of problem a few years back, I'm sure its mental.

Hi Pal.
There was a singer around in the mid 80's and into the 90's called SADE. Her music is so mellow with a silky voice, i always play her music on the way to the course, it helps to keep me mellow. It might be ideal driving range music.

Worth a shot

Re: Hitch in Backswing...

Thanks to you both...I have greatest hits from both Sade and Motorhead... I might try Sade on the range.....can't imagine what my swing would look like if I was cranking "Ace of Spades" while practicing...
