Hat's off to the "New Golf Swing"

I've been playing golf for about 4 decades. I've taken lesson's, took notes, read hundred's of books and watched videos, golf tournaments on TV but nothing comes close to the "New Golf Swing" lesson's. Through the blogs on this website and pointing me in the direction to the "New Golf Swing" lesson's I have been shooting the best scores of my life. I can hardly believe that I can now break 80 for eighteen holes. I've been studying the lesson's for about two weeks now and they have really helped my golf swing. I really think I took a quantum leap in golf and I can truly say that I am now a golfer and not a hacker. I played in a nine hole tournament last night and shot a 38. I've never broke 40 for nine holes in my life. For someone who just a few weeks ago shot a 45 on the same 9 holes that is remarkable. I missed just one fairway and was on in regulation on all holes. I have never done that before. And what was even amazing to me was that my golf swing (with woods and irons) felt effortless....as it should. Thank you people again for your blogs on this website.

What is the "New golf swing" and is there a web link to it?

First post.

I've played golf for 1½ months now and I read through that site a week ago.
I used to slice badly (who doesn't in the beginning ), because of swinging over the top. The site helped me get rid of that nasty habbit.
On sunday I played my first 18 holes, got me 47 bogey points. /me is happy camper!

That site in combination with GTO and you can't go wrong.

The New Golf Swing seems to get you in a very closed club face position at the top of the swing, and also in the takeaway.

Incidentally tonight, whilst practising in the pouring rain, and with Slater's hand position thread in mind, I moved my hands forward more at the address., so the hands where further to the left. Sometimes my hand position is too far back near my zipper. This seem to close the club face in the swing and when I checked at the top the club face was more closed than normal. My shots were straighter and crisper. I was only using a wedge and 7 iron because I did n't want to have to wonder off collecting balls all over the place in the rain.

Is the "New Golf Swing" an abridgfed version of Joe Dante and Len Elliots "The Four Magic Movements to Winning Golf"?

way to go!!! it's good to hear that you're hitting them well. i had a lesson about 3 months ago and the instructor had the same philosophy. it took awhile to get used to the first move but when i hit the ball it went long and straight. of course, i'm like alot of others that have had lessons.....i didn't stick with the change and went back to my old ways.
i've went over everything on the new golf swing site and i think i'll give it another try. also, i've been unable to work the "forward press" into my swing...any advice????

I believe Jack Nicklaus used the forward press and I use it somewhat. It's just a swing trigger for me. It kind tells me how I should be at the impact position. I've heard that if you use an Impact Bag to rehearse the move that will help. I don't have an Impact Bag so I use an old laundry bag filled with old worn out shirts, pants, rags, etc. That works the same way. I use the forward press when I putt - it helps me from breaking down my left wrist. Hope that helps.

You may be correct. I have not read the book. I may get a copy before too long.
Here is another book that many people highly recommend: "The Ultimate Golf Instruction Guide: Key Techniques for becoming a zero handicap golfer" by Patrick Leonardi. This book is costly...about $50 new. I have not read this one either but the reviews highly praise it. Personally, I have probably read and re-read a hundred books or more. Sadly, most don't help at all. However, sometimes it just takes the properly worded insight that can turn your game around. Hope that helps. Thanks for your comments.

Thank you all for this tread, I first read this Thursday night, and practiced
with this Friday morning. My friends and I play on Friday nights, so I thought
that I would try what I had practiced earler in the day, on the first tee.
I was amazed at my first shot, 200 yds straight down the fairway. Which is very good for me. We played 9 holes, I had the most fun and my lowest score so far (47). I've been golfing for two years, and struggling with a slice and poor driver & iron accuracy.
This all changed Friday night with " The Backward Wrist Break". Anyway
this gives me something to work with, and boost my marrow a lot.

I also want to thank you for the New Golf Swing website, which I read on Friday.

I only got as far as the completed breakaway, and played with that motion this afternoon. My score for 9 holes was 11 better than the last time I played.

So, I'm quite impressed with the New Golf Swing technique. However, on some of my shots today, I pushed the ball to the right. I think this is due to inconsistent hand movement through the downswing, caused by thinking of swinging the clubhead rather than moving the hands past the left leg (I'm a righty.)

Other than more practice, do any of you have any suggestion on how to concentrate on moving the hands during the downswing instead of trying to swing the clubhead?

This right wrist cupping is really popular with the pros on tour at the moment. When I watched celtic manor wales open lots of pros where practicing this move. Also watch ernie real close and he is working on it with leadbetter.

Can I ask you guys something. I'm having a bit trouble maintaining the thought of keeping my wrist-break the entire time throughout the swing. The Backswing works okay, but the the through swing (after the ball is hit) is a bit harder.

Do any of you guys have any videos of yourselves, just so I can see how this is done? I will be posting one of my own in a couple of hours - it'd be much easier done if I could see someone else's swing - thanks. take care.
