| Hi, I've been playing golf for about two years and I have had a lesson with a pro, and he advised me to change my grip, because the way I had it, meant it was too strong and thats the reason I was slicing it. I have now overcome my problem of slicing it, but have now enountered a hook only with my driver. It is so severe at times, the ball travels 90 degrees to the left. I just wondered if there was anyone who had any tips on, posture, ball position, grip, swing path to help me overcome my hook? Could someone please help me?????? Thanks v much Ian ![]() |

| Your hook is being caused by three things An extreme inside out path and early release of the clubface Grip if you're left and right hand are turned too far to the right this will make you take the club inside to early. Go to a nuetral grip. You should see 2 to 2 and a half knuckles on your left hand and the same on your right make sure that the vs formed by your thumb and index finger of each hand point between your chin and your right shoulder. A ball positioned too far back in the stance will promote an inside out path The ball should be just be off your sternum or your shirt logo this the correct ball position. NEVER DETERMINE BALL PSOTION WITH YOUR FEET. Your sternum is the bottom of you're swing arc where the clubhead meets the ground When the club is parallel to the target line your club is pointed to the right of the target You have excessive forearm rotation this is a result by the inside out path Due to this excessive rotation of your hands and arms the clubface is closed at impact. Do this Check your alignment. Your body should be parallel left (Picture this a set of railroad tracks your target is ligned up with the track on the right and your body is ligned up with the one on the left)This is square to the target line Most importantly check your shoulder alignment( this determins the path of the club from a fundamental point of view) if the right shoulder is turned to the right you will take the club inside and the face will tend to be closed If you are aligned well right of the target you are more sussceptible to take the club to the inside too early. Practice hitting a fade Align extremely left of the target and hit some shots Purposely come over the top Address the ball now put a ball directly behind your lcub on the take away push the ball straight back this a great drill for the proper takeaway Write back with you're success Jordan Scerbo Teaching Professional
