| Hit balls with left hand. Hi guys, Because I practice all day everyday lol I have found that spending to much time on the range really hurts your game, well it does with me anyway because i became a perfectionist and got to technical when really i am a feel player. Now I only hit 30 balls on the range a day and I hit all of those 30 balls with just my left hand or arm how eevr you would say it lol. Why? Because you cant go wrong! It ingrains a great swing plane, it ingrains you to compress the ball and because i am young it is making my left arm alot stronger! I then spend 1-2 hours chipping and wedge game and do 18 holes, i do this routine everyday near enough, obviously somedays i feel like just doing holes but mainly i stick to this routine. Just thought I would say because I think this can help anyone! From the scratch player to the 28 handicapper!

| Re: Hit balls with left hand. I watch the golf channel all the time. The "Playing Lessons with the Pro's" is super. During the session with John Daly he tells that he is a HUGH advocate of hitting balls with Left hand only. He points out that you can immediately tell when you are having problems with your backswing by hitting left hand only balls. I've tried it; it's not easy to do. I am convinced though, that it is a great way to train. Anyone else see that one?? Chessbum.... |

| Re: Hit balls with left hand. I do it with my 6 iron and hit it about 80 - 90 yards lol My full 6 iron goes 160-165 BrianW, I have to treat golf as my job (obviously I LOVE IT) I wake up everyday knowing im going to be able to practice my golf all day if I want, 30 balls takes like 20 mins, if your not prepared to put 20 mins a day into your golf game then your not going to improve much! Richiewinch, I practice from about 8-30am untill 1-2pm in the afternoon then I relax and do what teenagers do ! And I do that 5-6 days a week and yes I will be getting a job for a few nights a week as soon as possible!! So its hardly like I dont go out and have fun! because I do! I just dont want to make the mistake my Dad and other people have made and that is be very talented at a sport what you could do well in and then hit the beer ! And end up regreting it when you are older and wondering if you could of made it!

| Re: Hit balls with left hand. Hello: One of the reasons many players swat and breakdown is due to the fact that the right arm, hand and wrist are so much stronger and more coordinated than the left. Practicing with just the left hand on the club can be a good practice method but I would not recommend that being your only method of practice for the full swing. Work on strengthening the left wrist and arm and the one handed swings will help ingrain the feeling of hitting against the firm left wrist. Make sure that you also practice full swings with both hands on the club intermixed with the left only shots. As to being able to practice and play golf every day......as Napolean Dynamite would say...."Lucky!!!!!"...... Good luck |
