The dreadful Push but no draw

I tried the suggestions to avoid the push, they worked great (with a few exceptions) . Especially, preventing sliding really helped.

However, my goal is to draw the ball and the more I close my stance (left foot ahead and shoulder to the right) the ball flew more to right, with a sligt fade. I can't understand why this is happening since my swing is from the inside.

Any suggestions?

Thx!

Re: The dreadful Push but no draw

The grip is slightly strong, Vs pointing to the right shoulder. Club face slightly closed. Rotation - don't rotate hands intentionally at impact, try to clear the hips to the left on downswing as fast as possible (if that's what you asked)

Thanks!

Re: The dreadful Push but no draw

Thats what I asked. Try to start the rotating of your forearms just before impact.

Re: The dreadful Push but no draw

First: At impact there is no such thing as a strong or weak grip, your hands will square up as they swing down so the strong grip at set-up will close the face at impact, the weak one will open it. I prefer a neutral grip that is respecting the natural bio-mechanics of the arms, wrists and hands.

Secondly: To draw the ball you will need to impart some counter clockwise spin, there are two ways to do this:

1) Swing path:

You will need to take a normal swing with a normal setup but hit the ball on an inside to out path. Aim to strike the ball in the back lower quadrant. You should get the feeling that the toe is overtaking the heel of the club through impact and rotating around the ball.

2) Stance and club direction.

You will need to face slightly right of your target with the club face rotated in your grip so it faces directly towards your target. You then hit the ball directly along the line of your feet, the closed face of the club will impart some counter clockwise spin. You will need to experiment with the amount you need to open your stance, start off with around 15 deg and then adjust from there.

I get best results with the former. What ever you try don't put the two methods together or you will be spending some time looking for your ball in the rough/trees and/or playing many three's from the tee.
