knackrs,

Wanting to "Smash the living (&^&^(^ out of the ball" is not very productive in a golf swing. Balance is very important and so is solid contact with the ball.

You have to understand a few things before you start thrashing on the range.

1. You don't get a lower score for slinging a club backward on the backswing, it's purpose is to get the club in the correct position for the through swing.

2. You must shift your weight to the left side and use the left leg as a gate post or anchor point on the through swing. Staying on the right side will not give you distance.

3. The first move on the downsing is to pick the right heel off the ground. Your right leg will form a "Z Position" the 3 segments being the leg to knee, knee to ankle, and ankle to toes. You must feel your big toe turning on the ground through the swing.

4. The weight shift will turn your right shoulder from a high position to a low position with this move.

5. At the same time, the right arm then right wrist straighten through impact. They will catch up to the ball & socket joint of the left arm at the ball line.

6. Remember the left arm controls direction the right arm controls power, they must be in balance with each other. There is no left or right arm swing in golf. You have the best chance of making solid contact if you are in balance through the swing.

A drill for you would be a step drill. Take the club to the top of the back swing, concentrate on lifting the right heel first and continue the swing, then step through the swing toward your target. If you are in balance you will be able to do it. If you are thrashing you will feel off balance.

Calm down, it's a game of relaxation. The less stress the farther it goes. Tight muscles are slower than relaxed muscles.

It had NOTHING to do with technique GolfBald.

You have a severe case of the 'Hit Impulse'

Drill: Replace the ball with popcorn or something else very soft. Alternate hitting the ball and the popcorn and try to get the same swing feeling.

Ragman,

I normally don't answer rude comments such as yours. Please enlighten me, why you think the instruction I gave is a "hit impulse." You are a curiousity to me.

If your advertising for "The Ragman Golf Forum at http://ragman.iboardplus.com" by bashing people trying to help other golfers, I don't think I would want to read your web site.

There are thousands of subscribers to this web sites and in my opinion one of the best web sites for golf talk and instruction on the web. I offer my opinion as a golfer and services as an engineer and tutor to this site.

People have different opinions and learn golf in different ways. There are a lot of ways to get to the same end. Offer constructive help, I really don't care about your personal opinion of me, you don't know me.
