Leaking Gas at the top

Does anybody else have this problem ?
When I make my backswing and start the transition into the downswing I often break wind !
Apart from the embarrassment I think this shows a problem in my swing.
I think that the biggest strain on my body should be at impact and I would think that would be the natural "fart" point.
Do you think I should slow down the transition from the top to avoid this or should I not be concerned.

Re: Leaking Gas at the top

Glad you feel able to discuss this topic.

I thnk as long as it does not result in you playing
in "damp conditions" you should not worry!

Re: Leaking Gas at the top

So we know that Tunny has a problem with his backswing but what about his "follow-through".
I hope that any "follow-through" does not result in a stained pair of pants !

Re: Leaking Gas at the top

Snake-

Should Tunnys condition be advised to the Pro at his club- ??

Possibly advise him to start stocking 'Specialist golfwear' in the form of 'incontinence pants'- No laughing-
He can't be the only one with this unfortunate condition?

Some of the elderly Ladies and gents at my club tend to pollute the air when they 'tense-up' on their follow-through

Some help in the links http://www.ivanol.com/?gclid=COGomsm3qIgCFShUZwodPgsGNg

Re: Leaking Gas at the top

My instructor told me it is a result of a delay at the top of your backswing. Your swing should be one continous motion so that the timing of the gaseous discharge will coincide with impact. But don't be discouraged. Most amateurs have the opposite problem whereby discharge occurs after impact or not at all. This build up of gas can seriously affect one's round.

Unhappy Re: Leaking Gas at the top

Fortunately the 'follow through' has only happened once.
This was in a medal the morning after a rather hot curry!
I was playing the par5 11th and had to give the drive that little 'extra'.
As i was running up a good score and didn't want to drop any strokes i had to finnish the round.
That was a mistake! as the curry was rather hot in both directions!!ohhh!

I would really like to hear from anyone who has already had and cured this problem as I'm running out of playing partners.
The last time I put my name on the medal sheet sheet all other spaces in that time slot were empty, so I think urgent action required

HELP!!

Talking Re: Leaking Gas at the top

In my experience I think that you should worry about this gaseous discharge.
I used to have the same problem and for years I ignored it.
Friends laughed and it became the norm.
But about 2years ago the gas started to be a liquid then the liquid changed to a sticky solid.
At that point I became more concerned but still ignored it.
Now I routinely (& literally) shit myself with every shot !
What was the cause ?
What is the solution ?
I can only think that the cause was years of self abuse and the solution is not to eat before a round.
So Mr.Tunny get it checked out and stop the anal abuse now !

Re: Leaking Gas at the top

Gives a whole new meaning to 'Playing in the wet'

Or in Scotland we call it 'Durty weather' (in a broad accent)

@Bananaman= From your name can we guess what object you used to abuse yourself??

you seem to have some experience in this rather bizarre ritual??

Unhappy Re: Leaking Gas at the top

Somebody told me that I should imagine a rod, anchored in the ground going through my bum and right up my spine.
That is the central pivot point that you rotate around.
So I practiced with this imaginary rod but found the results were not so good.
So a few years ago I started using a real rod and perched my bum onto it (actually I perched this rod into my bum)
Hence the leaking began.
Tunny whats your story ?

Re: Leaking Gas at the top

This sounds like your trying to refine a 'CR@p-shot'

but at the same time deriving some weird pleasure from being impaled in the rod???

Don't take your instructor words so literally!!

Re: Leaking Gas at the top

I found this drill in a video lesson on a golf site. I think the exercise may assist you in your downswing and help you to build up the correct follow through.

Warning! Do not try this at home!
