How high do you raise your arms?

And do you raise it different levels consciously based on the length of club you are using? (I'm referring to the backswing and top of the swing by the way)

Re: How high do you raise your arms?

My gadget-like Suunto G6 tells me that on average, I swing back 156 deg.

It's probably less on short iron and wedges and slightly more on longer shots off the tee.

Re: How high do you raise your arms?

Do u mean, how high are your hands at the top of your backswing in comparison to the top of your head or how far round do you swing the club?

Simon, I try to swing the same, regardless of club.

The G6 is the snazziest of golf gadgets.

Re: How high do you raise your arms?

Here's a link to the Suunto G6 homepage.

And also a link to a topic (Timing?) where I explain a bit more about it.

Back on topic ... the 156 deg I mentioned is of course the angle on the top of the backswing compared to address.

Re: How high do you raise your arms?

Thanks Mox the 156 deg makes sense. Wow this is the first time I've heard of the Suunto. I didn't know such a wonderful gadget exists! :P

Re: How high do you raise your arms?

the watch tells tempo but if you focus on keeping balance, then tempo is irrelevent because keeping balanced will take care of it and no need to spend $400 on the watch.

Re: How high do you raise your arms?

No "focus on balance" can give the detail level of your ability to reproduce the same swing over and over again that the Suunto can.

It's a very efficient practice aid.
