Should we copy the Pros??????

Hi

I noticed on an analysis of Goosen's swing they said he plays an intentional pull as did Sam Snead.

The analysis went on to comment that this is a very powerful and consistent shot.

I have noticed if I set up at address with my feet very slightly closed and clubface slightly closed i am MUCH more accurate.

I'm sure there are TOTALLY different reasons as to why Goosen plays the slight pull compared to me........howver my question is then should I bother to change my swing so i can get the ball going sraight when allinged parallel left and club square or stick with what a I'm doing.

If pro's play with quirks themselves then should we all be trying to remove EVERY little "imperfection" from our swings?

Or is it a case where ONLY the pro's can afford to have these little flaws due to their exceptional talent.

I'm very inderested in any thoughts on this.

Cheers

Re: Should we copy the Pros??????

Everyone has quirks and flaws, from the 36+ hcp to Tiger Woods. The goal of the game is to use as few strokes as possible, not to swing perfectly (whatever that is). As long as you can hit the ball consistently with the swing you have, changing it is more a matter of whether you are content with what you have or not. Most players are not (no matter how well they swing) so they constantly work on it.

The important thing is that while playing on the course, you use what you have. If closing your stance works for you then do it. If it bothers you, practice on the range until you have fixed it then take it on to the course.

Re: Should we copy the Pros??????

hi
when we learn to play golf and start hitting full shots, we are told to try and hit the ball straight but i dont know of one pro golfer that dont hit a draw or a fade as there standard shot, if you know the ball always fade's then you will be able to aim at the trouble and let the ball fade away from it but if you hit it straight you never know if it will fade or draw. i have yet to hear of a teaching pro that starts someone off by getting them to to draw or fade as there fundementle shot. i always look at lee trevino,s teaching and how he said it was easy to teach someone that slices how to use a fade and control it than to ever get them to hit a ball constanly straight, he said even the pro's cant always hit a stright ball.

Re: Should we copy the Pros??????

if it works for ya play it, alot of players play open or closed it kinda eliminates one side of the course, every one gets to technical and it hurts there game, do what works best for you not some one else
