2 Things I hate about video lessons

One is having an isntructor this bad:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYswHpUm-Jg&NR

The other is having a student this bad....getting this level of instruction thinking this is actually helpful.

Re: 2 Things I hate about video lessons

Wow, this is the one time I would recommend starting from scratch and abandoning everything he has learned thusfar.
The instructor is also worthy of a sanction if he is a pga member.

Is the instructor so bad?- personally I think he is in shock and can't help the poor bloke.

What would us GTO's recommend to the golfer to improve his swing?
I'd say give up!

(Hope he's not a member of this site- if so sorry keep on trying)

Re: 2 Things I hate about video lessons

That thought did cross my mind, which is why I hesatated, but what are the odds? So I posted it. I still like watching it....makes me laugh every time. When he compared his swing to the other pro, (can't tell who..it's not Tiger though) thank goodness the tape ran out and he didn't get into details!

Re: 2 Things I hate about video lessons

Greg,

You're right.

I'm just curious, is this lesson done in person or has he video'd himself and forwarded it to his instructor for feedback?

I actually like seeing my swing on video - for me real v feel are two totally different things.

Re: 2 Things I hate about video lessons

One good thing about his swing is that by the looks of the club face at impact he has taken any, and all trouble on the left side out of play. Probably lots of carry also..........to the right side., GJS

Re: 2 Things I hate about video lessons

First - wow! What a swing!

The "instructor" seems to be telling the student to not move his head.

Greg, as a teaching professional, would you mind explaining what the "mis-instruction" here is? Is this just the most minor problem for this guy? Or is the teacher off-base? As someone who only concentrates on my own issues, it is interesting to hear how and why another is destroying the golf swing, and what your advice for him would be.

P.S. I'm not the guy in the video :-)

Re: 2 Things I hate about video lessons

the "teaching pro" did nothing about his set up and expected different results, that is the first mistake. Second mistake is he did not ask him to hit balls left handed just to see what would happen, no way could that swing be worse
