Re: strong grip caos Thank you for that Greg, very interesting and helpful-I don't know how I've played decent golf for so long with all of these flaws in my swing-but I do know why I'm hitting the ball worse is because alot of the moves in my swing are wrong and I did something else wrong to makeup for the first one-but now If I correct something the other bad moves do not cooperate with it-didn't care so much about it before but I am trying to get to another level and I've gone as far as I can with these problems.Instruction is good where I live but pricey-and I'm trying to get this done without spending bookoo's of bux. thanks again

Re: strong grip caos Another question regarding a strong grip-on the backswing at the top whether it is 3/4 or full does the left wrist have to cup in order to keep the face square? Because if it does that could explain alot of my problems here, mine is not, it is more flat and that might be the reason for my faulty release-if not, then we're back to something else-I'm still trying to upload my swing here-will get it eventually.

Re: strong grip caos Strong grips will have the front hand cup as your set/cock up your hands. This is a strong hinge to release in this mannor so use it to your advantage. Upload your videos to u-tube or another service, it is easier. Then just paste in the url.

Re: strong grip caos Just got back from the range-and found some interesting stuff.Asked the pro there if they thought my grip was to strong-said no it's good, but somehow I have developed a slight OTT move-I thought I was swinging out on the ball-but actually right shoulder was moving out a bit.My fix was to make sure on the downswing to swing out to right field-and nothing else-and the ball flight was right to left like normal-shallower divot-and maybe something I can trust again.Don't know I strayed from this to begin with-but I think it might of all started when I was working on hitting a fade and some how got the swing paths combined -I don't know. Would like some feedback on this please

Re: strong grip caos I have been working on my right hand cup this morning trying figure out how to incorporate it into the swing. I am not releasing the club very well right now resulting in weak shots. Not enough satisfying thumps. When I establish a solid cup at address I find I really have to push my hands way forward of the club head at address otherwise I just don't feel it. This just doesn't look right. I am using a gap wedge to practice this in my living room so maybe this is alright since the ball should be back in the stance anyway. I have also played around with putting a break in the backswing to get the cup but the idea of breaking back and then hinging up in the backswing seems would complicate things. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

) Your left wrist will (or should) return flat at impact, with a strong grip this will have the effect of closing the clubface and in some cases cause hooks. For high handicappers a strong grip assists with a later release and longer shots, it is not essential to have a strong grip to hit long though. Many more experienced golfers will adopt a neutral grip that allows more feel in the shot. |
