Hitting irons off the toe

Help!

I've been playing for 4 years now and I have developed a problem where I hit the ball off the toe a lot resulting in awful shots that are about 20% shorter and a lot of vibration. I'm a fairly methodical player and am usually able to find solutions to my problems. I feel like my set-up (including ball position) is fine.

This problem, however, keeps rearing its ugly face; often late in a round. I have tried to stand closer to the ball, with inconsistent results. In any event I feel that this is more of a bandaid. I would like to address the real problem. Any suggestions?

Jake

Re: Hitting irons off the toe

Balance....you probably setup with too much weight on the toes, during the swing you straighten up or move the weight back torwards the heels to keep from falling over.

Too get your self into good balance, requires good posture at address. Start by taking the club with the correct grip hold it in front of you standing straight up until the club shaft is parallel to the ground, this puts the club at a 90 degree angle to the spine, now bend from the hips until the clubhead is a few inches from the ground, then just crack the knees to get the club to the ground. This will put you in good balance and show you where the ball needs to be, distance wise.
