anyone want to overwhelm yourself

with golf information, here is some stuff I put on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=200079727049

I took almost all my golf stuff to an ebay center where you drop it off and they sell it for you. last month I dropped off my dvd's many more books, multiple training aids, etc... all in all there was a total of over 28 auctions, I will get a total of abou $500 for it all and I spent over $2500 Sure is nice when golf becomes simplier instead of more complex and you get to clean out your closet and lessen the clutter.

Re: anyone want to overwhelm yourself

Imagine how well you would be playing if you used that $2500 on professional instruction! Not being sarcastic. I used to buy books on golf but have given them all away. I am not big on golf training aids either. Although I did buy one a couple of seasons ago....the "Swing Stick". I don't regret buying that one. And I use it a lot...helps generate swing speed and muscle strength. Other than that...no more books and no more swing aids for me. You're right it sure does make the game simpler. One thing I do have that has helped me evaluate my swing and that is a Nikon Coolpix digital camera that has a movie function. You can observe a lot just by watching. Just by looking at my swing on my PC I can tell right away where I need to work. The only problem is that you can't stop the image at all points but it still gives you the main features of the swing. I don't know if it works with the new golf software that is available out there with all the bells and whistles.

Re: anyone want to overwhelm yourself

oh, I have not mentioned how many lessons I have bought. The problem I found there is most have no clue as to what the human body does during the swing. Off the top of my head I have been to nine instructors.

Then I spent $250 on mike austins work and I dont regret that at all. The man understands better then most methods what the body does. Then I met with an instructor who learned from austin he helped to further open my eyes. Now I practice less, hit better, relax more, and dont get so serious about hte game. I feel now I have less quesitons and better understand why I had such a problem. Many moves in many of those books are unatural. But then again maybe I had to go through all that so I would be ready when the simplicity came my way. Kind of like life, when we live in hate long enough we will give that up to live in love. But if we always lived in love we might take it for granted and not appreciate it. Funny how my golf path is now very similiar to my life path.

Re: anyone want to overwhelm yourself

Like the old proverb...a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. I am still on that journey as most of us on this blog. It's been fun and it can be frustrating. My avatar above has changed and I no longer hit with that cupped left wrist as shown above. No golf instructor has ever pointed that out to me. A photo told all. The video is very, very valuable to me. I am totally visual. Words go in one ear and out the other. The majority of people can't learn to play a piano or any other musical instrument by reading a book. You have to play the instrument constantly to get it. The people who have taken the time to make a video have helped me a lot ...... I have learned more in the past year on this blog than the previous 30 years. I thank you all. As far as my golf swing; I am not there yet..but very, very close. My goal for 2007 is to be in the mid-to- low 80's.

Re: anyone want to overwhelm yourself

I still have books from when I was 12 and members gave me theirs; you know its funny, just when you think you are too good for the old stuff, you find that they are nice to have as a reference.
I can't tell you how many times I have referred to my library for this or that nuance and was happy to be able to find the answer and cure a fault that crept in.
My hat is off to those of you who have mastered the swing and the game and don't need instruction or reference books(tongue in cheek).

Re: anyone want to overwhelm yourself

well takingitdeep, I guess some people would assume I got rid of all my books, I realize I have a few gems left and those are the ones I kept
for me my set up is about my biggest concern. Sam snead did not think much about the golf swing and I am getting closer to that, not on sneads level but on a satisfactory one for me and when I swing I have NO swing thoughts. Please let me know if you approve, tounge in cheek
it is not about thinking I am too good for this or that, it is about certain things did not do anything to help. Btw, we know who you have reincarnated from

And that is supposed to mean what to me?
I fail to understand but it wouldn't be the first time.
