Thoughts on a Round

So I went into a round determined to try a completely different swing. Kind of stupid since I had not hit any balls with my new swing. I had just done slow motion swings and practice swings hitting pine cones before the round. My new swing was simply to take all tension out of my shoulders, arms and grip and letting them fly back using my shoulder turn and then initiating the through swing as many have suggeste by bumping and turning the hips. I just let everything else control my arms. The arms dropped and swung around my body.

The results were very good. My most consistent driving round in years I think. Solid but not sensational contact but best of all no real dogs except for that last hole. Right on or just off the fairway. Mostly on. Had a 300 yard drive and at least one over 250. More pars then I am used to getting.

My iron shots were better than usual but not great. Definitely straighter than usual though. A couple of beauties. I discovered that I was hitting the irons a little shallow. Need to work on ball placement or something the gets me a little steeper on those high irons. The new swing certainly changed something there.

One big difference I noted was that it is much easier to follow through on the shot. The club wraps around the other side on the follow through much easier. The club just goes there rather than being guided by the arms.

Things I need to work on I think is keeping the right knee flexed and minding my spine angle. Any comments welcome.

Re: Thoughts on a Round

Well jam, I am so glad you found your round interesting and rewarding but I have one word for you: BORING! If you really want to take us through a round why don't you start your own blog and if any of us have absolutely nothing to do we might consider taking a look. Nothing to see here folks. So some of our suggestions finally got through to you and now you are presenting it like you made some great discovery. takinitdeep was right, there are so many loser wanna be's on this site.

Hey Jamb,

Have we been ignoring you, sorry for that . You sound as if you are letting that little golfing devil's voice get at you.

Good stuff, sounds like all the right things to me although, I probably read them in a book somewhere
