Jerk/ jump I've seen this common action in youngsters. They seem to have this jerk/jump kinda motion right before impact. It's a bit hard to describe but that motion seems to allow them to create a very slight delay/lag and hence impact the ball very well. Not sure if anybody knows what I'm trying to describe here? :P

Re: Jerk/ jump at the top of the backswing they start the transwition by moving the weight forward and down onto the lead foot, after energy goes down onto the lead foot it must come back up. This is also referred to the sam snead squat, sit down move, etc.., you sit down then you come up. Look for pics of women a lot of them come off the ground much more so then man.

Re: Jerk/ jump Are you referring to the "standing up" phenomenon that seems more prominent in golfers who have an exaggerated knee bend in the early downswing (eg. Tiger Woods) and who therefore jerk up as they pivot around a straightening left leg at impact. See question number 4 in this section - http://perfectgolfswingreview.net/impact.htm Jeff.

Re: Jerk/ jump Oh yes yes, I'm pleasantly surprised - I think some of you guys have understood what I was trying so hard to describe! And yes shootin, come to think of it now, I do seem to see that with some of the ladies as well (maybe Paula Creamer as an example?), although it's still not as pronounced as what I see a lot of teenage boys around here do. Yes, I agree Tiger looks like he tends to raise up. The ones I'm describing are much more pronounced than that, that's why I used the words jerk and jump even ![]() Thanks guys. I need to find out more abt this. Some of you might have seen my swing and I think if I can apply this (whatever it is!) to my swing, it would be much more effective...

Re: Jerk/ jump simon, this is a reaction rather then a conscious attempt. I would say do not try and incorperate it into your swing but work on fundamentals and you may end up with it or you may not. It is all about what swing works for you and not the "ideal" swing

Re: Jerk/ jump Roger that. I think Brian and Jeff might have a point, it could be a result of correct firing of the right side and into a solid left side at impact (like imagining a brick wall on the left side?). It's like putting a brake on everything else so that the arms and hands can whip through impact?
