A New Technique I learned

Anyway I was reading up on some book and I had read that lotsa pro golfers in order to make sure that their downswing starts with the lower body they will actually start turning their left knee and hips BEFORE the backswing is totally finished.. I can't think of the book but I will look it up and post it somewhere

Anywhere today at the range I decided to give it a try.. So I started turning my left knee and hip to the left just before my backswing finished.. I couldn't believe the amount of imporovement I got, because when I timed it right I hit a beatifull draw everytime and very far, and I felt a more fast whippy laggy type feel..The "swish" sound happened during the impact/finish through area which is supossed to be the sound of what the good golfers do..Anyway i thought i would just convery this idea to you all , it seems to have helped me..

I.E. - Also before the backswing I actually move my weight forward onto my left foot just a tiny bit, and then I start my backswing.. It seems to help with my rhythm and timing alot better..When i did this i noticed alot more hand lag also and my distance was alot longer.. I also made sure to swing inside out, and started the backswing alot slower than usual so I could get the feel of the inside path...whenever I didn't do the inside path on the takeaway I usually hit a slice.. And slicing is my bad problem..

So anyway.. if your having trouble and want a tip, try the shifting of the hips and left knee toward the flagstick JUST BEFORE the backswing is finished..if you time it right you will get a beautiful release..

Re: A New Technique I learned

Hogan promoted a right knee tension to the inside of your stance, I play this in my down swing and it works will for me. I have fast hips (no pun intended!) so the right knee drill works well for me.

If I get my hips through too quickly I get nice banana slice--does anyone else find this???

There are a lot of threads which mention this technique. It is a basic move in golf. It is often described as bumping the hips foward to start the swing. You are on the right track with this thought.

I have read "break your knees towards the target."

I have read "when you think you have turned far enough, just a little more before starting your downswing.

If you can teach yourself to move your lower body LEFT while still turning your chest to the RIGHT....that would lead to quite a bit of "lag" and put you in a very powerful position.
